HDB DRC listed: HDB keeps a Directory of Renovation Contractors. A firm has to be listed before it can renovate an HDB flat. It’s a listing, not a quality rating. We re-read the open-data copy of HDB’s list every month; the current copy is dated 24 Mar 2026.

CR06, and what the grade means: CR06 is BCA’s registration for interior decoration and finishing. BCA grades each workhead on financial, track record, personnel and other requirements. For public-sector projects, the grade also sets the contract value a firm may tender for. None of it scores workmanship. That’s what the work half is for.

General building (CW01): Building works that call for more than two unrelated building trades, additions and alterations that change a building’s structure, and installing roof structures.

Minor construction (CR01): Minor building and civil works, and landscaping works outside the Building Control Act, such as drainage, minor road works, hardscape, and minor additions and alterations.

Repairs and redecoration (CR09): Exterior repainting and minor repairs to existing buildings that leave the structure alone. Alterations that change the structure fall outside it.

Licensed builder (GB1/GB2): A builder’s licence under the Building Control Act. The main contractor on building works whose plans need the Commissioner of Building Control’s approval generally has to hold one. Class 1 covers projects of any value; Class 2 is limited to smaller projects.
