Inter-monsoon storms

Before the storm

What to do before, during and after a storm, so the rain stays on the right side of the glass.

Belle

Before

  • On vinyl, a mat with non-rubber backing at each door to outside.

  • Look along the edges where vinyl meets tiles, and at the kitchen's wet edge.

  • Know where your floor traps are, and keep them clear.

Ben

During

  • Close the windows on the side the rain is coming from.

  • Wipe up rain that blows in, straight away.

  • Keep people off standing water: it's a slip hazard.

Ben

After

  • On vinyl, mop as usual. Normal mopping is fine; flooding it isn't.

  • If a plank lifts at the seams near a wet edge, ask your installer to look.
